Dubai residents are being encouraged to get smart, as for a whole week they will only be able to pay their bills by going online.
Dubai government services, such as Dewa bill payments, will available online only from October 21 until October 25 as part of an initiative to encourage more people to use smart services such as apps and internet payments.
The campaign is being led by the Department of Finance and involves 40 public bodies.
It follows last year’s launch of A Day Without Service Centres, which also encouraged people to access government services online for a day. That scheme led to a 30 per cent jump in the use of smart services on the day.
In total, 31,000 transactions worth a total of Dh55 million were processed — a significant jump on the Dh42.2m in transactions made the day before.
