The Ministry of interior has launched a website to promote a culture of innovation and encourage the sharing of creative ideas. Sheikh Saif bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, urged personnel at the ministry to adopt creative ideas to improve police work and provide excellent services to the public.
The new website offers an online learning material on innovative thinkingand an idea evaluation methodology and measurement program designed to assess the impact of the proposed ideas prior to implementation.
The website, www.uaeinnovation.ae, is the first of its kind in the Middle East, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister paper of The National.

Pharaoh's curse
British aristocrat Lord Carnarvon, who funded the expedition to find the Tutankhamun tomb, died in a Cairo hotel four months after the crypt was opened.
He had been in poor health for many years after a car crash, and a mosquito bite made worse by a shaving cut led to blood poisoning and pneumonia.
Reports at the time said Lord Carnarvon suffered from “pain as the inflammation affected the nasal passages and eyes”.
Decades later, scientists contended he had died of aspergillosis after inhaling spores of the fungus aspergillus in the tomb, which can lie dormant for months. The fact several others who entered were also found dead withiin a short time led to the myth of the curse.

A little about CVRL
Founded in 1985 by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, the Central Veterinary Research Laboratory (CVRL) is a government diagnostic centre that provides testing and research facilities to the UAE and neighbouring countries.
