Dubai Municipality has formed a special team to promote volunteerism.

Hussain Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality, issued an administrative order to establish the Tatawwu team in an effort to build and spread the culture of volunteerism and create a platform for those who wish to dedicate their time and efforts toward causes that benefit society and community.

The team will keep a systematic database of members to ease the coordination and deployment of personnel in events and programs.

The Tatawwu will send volunteers to events upon requests from various administrative units at departments of Dubai Municipality.

Also, the team will coordinate with various other departments, beyond the Dubai Municipality, to support initiatives and events that benefit society.

They will make use of the expertise and skills within the Municipality as well as from outside to perform their tasks in better ways.

In efforts to better performance, the team will arrange trainings to enrich members’ skills collaborating with the human resources department of the civic body.

According to Mr Lootah, volunteerism is one of the criteria considered for Dubai government excellence awards and that formation of such a group would help Dubai Municipality perform in a better way in the field of social and humanitarian drives.
