ABU DHABI // Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, met a delegation of US officials on Tuesday including the House speaker, John Boehner.
Both parties spoke about ways to strengthen ties, the state news agency Wam reported, as well as on their continued cooperation with regards to the healthcare industry.
“The UAE has made an impressive progress in all fields,” Sheikh Mohammed told the US Congress members.
“Yet, we aim to achieve more, relying on our national capabilities. Our top priorities are education and investing in youth who represent the future of the UAE.”
Other topics included the UAE’s vision for developing the region, with Sheikh Mohammed “saying that the country, through its foreign policy, seeks to work with brotherly and friendly countries to perpetuate stability and development”, Wam reported.
For this to work, Sheikh Mohammed said, joint cooperation is required to “sustain development and to stay away from extremism and conflicts”.
“We should all cooperate at this critical juncture in the region’s history,” he said.
In response, the US delegation members said they were impressed with the UAE’s progress, adding that the US was keen to continue working on cooperating in all fields.
Others present included Reem Al Hashemi, Minister of State, Dr Sultan Al Jaber, also Minister of State and Michael Corbin, US ambassador to the UAE.
