The Higher Committee for Combating Drugs at the Ministry of Interior met with the National and Reserve Service Authority to discuss ways to cooperate in the fight against drugs.
It took place as part of the committee’s 11th meeting under the chairmanship of Col Saeed Al Suwaidi, director general of the ministry’s anti-narcotics federal directorate.
Col Al Suwaidi stressed the importance of the integration of authorities involved and said such meetings provide the opportunity to develop prevention, awareness, rehabilitation and treatment plans.
The UAE’s strategy against drugs is built on joint efforts, he added, according to the state news agency, Wam.
Dr Hamad Al Ghafri, director general of the National Rehabilitation Centre, also attended the meeting to describe the centre’s efforts and its role in providing treatment and rehabilitation services for drug and alcohol addiction.
