FNC members will question the Minister of State for Happiness in Tuesday’s session, the first since the ministry was established.
Ohood Al Roumi was notified of seven questions from members of the Federal National Council ahead of the session. Salem Al Shehhi, who represents Ras Al Khaimah, asked about the standards and scales required to measure a nation’s happiness.
“It is a new ministry, and she was given around 90 days (after being appointed) to prepare her plan,” Mr Al Shehhi said.
“So we want to ask her about her strategy and what her plan is, what is happening on the ground.”
He added that there have been many plans, strategies and “Now there is a minister, so we are asking what is your work? What are your goals and how will you accomplish them?”
Other questions for the minister include the role of the private sector in achieving happiness, rooting the values of happiness and spreading awareness.
Mr Al Shehhi raised a question for Najla Al Awar, Minister for Community Development, about the benefits of a that was issued to people with disabilities.
“It was issued, but we ask what are the benefits? How useful is it for disabled people and what does it provide them with?”
He said through his talks with disabled members of the community he developeda rapport, “and based on the minister’s reply things will be clarified”.
Ms Al Awar also took a question on nurseries in government departments and ministries, and a question on establishing care centres for the disabled and on legislation relating to senior citizens.
Eighteen questions have been raised in total that are expected to be answered during the session by ministers.
