Leaders wish President happy Eid

ABU DHABI // After welcoming the Sun rising on the first day of Eid Al Adha through prayer in their respective emirates, Rulers of the UAE converged on the capital to wish Eid Mubarak to the President.

Sheikh Khalifa was honoured in a reception hosted by Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, at Al Mushrif Palace on Monday.

The Rulers of the other six emirates congratulated the President on the occasion of Eid Al Adha, wishing him well in his leadership while also continuing to promote progress and prosperity, state news agency Wam reported.

The Vice President and the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi received Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah; Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman; Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah; Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain; and Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

Among others present were Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region, Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed, Ruler’s Representative in the Eastern Region, Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council and several crown princes.

On Sunday night, leaders from across the Arab world called to send best wishes to Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed for Eid.

He exchanged greetings with Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; King Mohammed VI of Morocco; King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain; Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, emir of Kuwait; Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, emir of Qatar; Egyptian president Abdel Fattah El Sisi; and Sudanese president Omar Hassan Al Bashir.

Sheikh Mohammed relayed greetings from the President, saying that he wished them health, happiness and prosperity for their countries and people. Arab leaders, in turn, said they wished Sheikh Khalifa continued good health, glory and prosperity.

Early on Monday, Rulers attended Eid prayers at mosques across the country.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed performed Eid prayers at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, along with citizens and expatriates. Among those with him were Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs, Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed, Deputy Chairman of Abu Dhabi Executive Council and Sheikh Saeed bin Zayed, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative.

In Dubai, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, accompanied by Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, performed Eid prayers at the Sheikh Rashid Mosque in Zabeel. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid later received well-wishers at Zabeel Palace.

Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, performed Eid Al Adha prayers at Al Badea Musalla before receiving well-wishers at Al Badea Palace. The Crown Prince of Sharjah, Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, was also present.

In Ajman, the Ruler, Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, and Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, performed Eid prayers at the Sheikh Rashid bin Humaid Al Nuaimi Mosque.

The Fujairah Ruler, Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, performed the Eid prayer at the new Sheikh Zayed Mosque, alongside the Crown Prince, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad Al Sharqi.

Sheikh Saud bin Rashid Al Mualla, Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, performed Eid Al Adha prayers at the Sheikh Zayed Mosque in his emirate, while Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah, was joined by Sheikh Mohammed bin Saud Al Qasimi, his Crown Prince, for prayers at the Grand Eid Mussala, in Al Khuzam.
