King Abdullah II of Jordan emphasised the strong ties between his country and the UAE during a meeting with the Speaker of the Federal National Council.
During a meeting with Dr Amal Al Qubaisi, King Abdullah said the legislative institutions in both countries are important for improving cooperation and exchanging expertise between the countries.
They also discussed regional developments and ways to bring security and stability to the Middle East, reported Wam, the state news agency. King Abdullah on Sunday visited Abu Dhabi, where he was received by Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.
Dr Al Qubaisi praised the countries’ strong relations and voiced appreciation for Jordan’s empowerment of women, and thanked King Abdullah for patronising the 2016 Women in Parliaments Global Forum in Amman, which she will attend while in Jordan. The forum started on Wednesday and ends on Friday.
Dr Al Qubaisi also met Faisal Al Fayez, president of Jordan’s senate. They discussed humanitarian aid from the UAE to Syrian refugees in Jordan through relief agencies such as Emirates Red Crescent, as well as issues affecting the region such as terrorism and sectarianism.
“Regrettably, the world is not aware of what Jordan is doing and suffering from as a result of hosting more than 1.5 million Syrian refugees,’’ she said.
The two parties also emphasised the importance of Arab unity and discussed Jordanian efforts to advance Arab issues, mainly the Palestinian cause.

The more serious side of specialty coffee
While the taste of beans and freshness of roast is paramount to the specialty coffee scene, so is sustainability and workers’ rights.
The bulk of genuine specialty coffee companies aim to improve on these elements in every stage of production via direct relationships with farmers. For instance, Mokha 1450 on Al Wasl Road strives to work predominantly with women-owned and -operated coffee organisations, including female farmers in the Sabree mountains of Yemen.
