ABU DHABI // The Speaker of the Federal National Council met the Moroccan ambassador to the UAE on Sunday.

Dr Amal Al Qubaisi and Mohamed Ait Ouali, the ambassador, discussed the need to create a committee to strengthen the countries’ parliamentary ties and coordinate their stances during regional or international meetings.

During the meeting, Mr Ouali congratulated Dr Al Qubaisi on being the first woman to lead a parliament in the Middle East, according to Wam, the state news agency.

“The UAE has set a shining example of respect and empowerment of women who have reached advanced stages in various walks of life, notably in political participation, thanks to the support extended to them by the state and leadership,” he said.
