DUBAI // The first in a series of nationwide youth meetings addressing issues such as national identity and happiness will be held in Dubai on Wednesday.

Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth Affairs, announced the launch of the Youth Circles initiative, which had been approved as part of a 100-day action plan by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, to promote communication with UAE youth.

UAE youth have achieved a high degree of maturity and awareness to participate in efforts shaping the country’s future, Ms Al Mazrui said, according to Wam, the state news agency. Any young Emirati can register to participate in the meetings, expected to be held throughout the year in all emirates.

At the first meeting, Ms Al Mazrui is expected to present a working paper on skills that youth need to prepare for the future.

During the Youth Circles, participants will discuss issues, opportunities and challenges in areas such as national identity, innovation, entrepreneurship, happiness, sustainability, health, education, the economy and technology.

The meetings will be organised by the Emirates Youth Council.
