ABU DHABI // Emirati and expatriate artists are being encouraged to show their support for the nation’s heroes who laid down their lives in service of the UAE.

The Abu Dhabi Government on Wednesday launched Proud Expressions, a national commemoration art programme.

The event was initiated by the Martyrs’ Families Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court, in collaboration with the Tourism and Culture Authority.

“This is a symbolic and fitting tribute to the heroes of the UAE and their families and a part of the UAE Remembers campaign,” said Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon, director of the office.

“We hope that people across the nation will take this opportunity to honour them by supporting and participating in this programme.”

The public have also been asked to show their support on social media using the hashtag #TheUAERemembers ahead of Commemoration Day on November 30.

Proud Expressions aims to bring people together through a sense of common pride in the strength and resilience of the nation, while building solidarity and unity throughout the community.

Artists can submit their work on the website proudexpressions.ae.

Entries must be submitted before February 5 next year. Successful artists will have their pieces displayed in public venues across the UAE in spring.
