Dh20.2m allocated to pay off Sharjah debts

SHARJAH // More than Dh20.2 million has been allocated to pay the debt of citizens in Sharjah emirate, state news agency Wam reported.

A panel tasked with settling the debts of Sharjah citizens approved the amount to pay off the 54 cases of wanted, convicted persons in financial cases, as well as other defaulters, said Rashid Ahmed bin Al Sheikh, chief of the Emiri Court and head of the committee.

The move came in line with directives of Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council member and Ruler of Sharjah.

Emiratis in Sharjah have previously been warned about excessive spending for events such as marriages.
