SHARJAH // Public works projects worth more than Dh120 million are set to begin next year in Sharjah.

The Sharjah Department of Public Works said the projects include a Dh60m manuscripts house at Al Qasimia University and a new Sharjah Education Zone building with a cost estimated at Dh30m, said Abdullah Noman, head of supervision in the department, according to state news agency Wam.

Two new mosques are also to be built at an estimated cost of Dh41m.

More than 700 health, educational, housing and services developing projects have been undertaken by the department in different parts of the emirate.

The projects come as Sharjah has been selected as a global “healthy city”, requiring the department to adopt new standards and specifications for projects, Mr Noman said.
