DUBAI // Support for people with special needs is being provided by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority through wheelchair-friendly working environments for employees and special parking areas.

Last year, Dewa launched a service for speech and hearing-impaired residents, named Ash’ir, and a live video chat service to enable people with impairments to communicate directly with call centre staff using sign language.

Dewa boss Saeed Al Tayer said: “Dewa provides a positive and ideal work environment for employees with special needs.

“We are fully committed to further enhancing social development in Dubai and the UAE by launching social projects and initiatives and developing cooperation with stakeholders to achieve the vision of the Dubai Government.”

Dewa also supports Rashid Paediatric Therapy Centre and raises funds for Dubai Autism Centre.
