The Crown Prince Court in Abu Dhabi (CPC) said it was mourning the death of Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei, adviser for culture and heritage at CPC, who died on Thursday in a traffic accident.
Two other people were also killed in the car crash outside Madinat Zayed cemetery, Abu Dhabi Police confirmed. Investigations were ongoing.
The CPC expressed its profound sorrow and extended solace to the bereaved family and relatives, Wam, the state news agency reported.
Al Mazrouei was born in Medina Zayed in the Western Region of Abu Dhabi. After completing his schooling at a number of government schools in the emirate he continued his education in the United States for five years. He held a master’s degree in management from Oregon State.
Al Mazrouei had been the director-general of the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH), now known as the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority (TCA), as well as chairman of Abu Dhabi Media – publisher of The National.
Hundreds of people have been passing on their condolences through the social media site Twitter, many commemorating Al Mazrouei for his notable work on the country’s culture scene.
“For all of us who worked as a collective family with Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei you will be missed. May u all rest in peace,” Eliza Ilyas tweeted from her account @Elizal.
Lara Sawaya tweeted: “Mohammed Khalaf Al Mazrouei May Your Soul Rest in Peace. My sincere condolences to all His Family ...”
Al Mazrouei made rich contributions towards the preservation of UAE’s heritage and culture.
In 2003, Al Mazrouei was instrumental in the launch of the Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition The event is now one of the most popular cultural festivals on the calendar.
While at TCA, he helped launch two of the most successful TV poetry programmes in the Arab world, which draws millions of viewersas well as the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, New York-Abu Dhabi Film Academy, Eastern Melodies Festival and the Sheikh Zayed Book Award, Kilmat for Translation Project and many others.
The UAE Journalists Association also released a statement on Wam to mourn Al Mazrouri’s passing, saying that the UAE has lost a national symbol and loyal figure who contributed to good national deeds notched in the memory.

Defining head lice
Pediculus humanus capitis are tiny wingless insects that feed on blood from the human scalp. The adult head louse is up to 3mm long, has six legs, and is tan to greyish-white in colour. The female lives up to four weeks and, once mature, can lay up to 10 eggs per day. These tiny nits firmly attach to the base of the hair shaft, get incubated by body heat and hatch in eight days or so.
Identifying lice
Lice can be identified by itching or a tickling sensation of something moving within the hair. One can confirm that a person has lice by looking closely through the hair and scalp for nits, nymphs or lice. Head lice are most frequently located behind the ears and near the neckline.
Treating lice at home
Head lice must be treated as soon as they are spotted. Start by checking everyone in the family for them, then follow these steps. Remove and wash all clothing and bedding with hot water. Apply medicine according to the label instructions. If some live lice are still found eight to 12 hours after treatment, but are moving more slowly than before, do not re-treat. Comb dead and remaining live lice out of the hair using a fine-toothed comb.
After the initial treatment, check for, comb and remove nits and lice from hair every two to three days. Soak combs and brushes in hot water for 10 minutes.Vacuum the floor and furniture, particularly where the infested person sat or lay.
