Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed and Iran's Foreign Minister Javad Zarif discussed the latest regional and global developments over the coronavirus outbreak.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Co-operation offered his condolences to Iranians as the country fights increasing cases of Covid-19.
Speaking to Mr Zarif on the phone, Sheikh Abdullah expressed the UAE's support for the Iranian people and stressed the importance of collective work to survive such global challenges.
Emergency medical supplies were flown from the Emirates to Iran to help doctors stem the spread of the coronavirus.
On March 2, a flight took off from Dubai World Central for Tehran carrying 7.5 tonnes of equipment.
The UAE-backed operation was arranged by the World Health Organisation from International Humanitarian City in Dubai.
Protective gloves, respiratory masks and surgical gowns and computer equipment were sent to Iran to help the authorities monitor the spread of Covid-19.
Tehran reported 113 deaths on March 15, bringing Iran’s toll to 724.
The total number of cases worldwide reached 156,730 on Sunday, with almost 75,933 recoveries. The death toll sits at 5,839.
