Bahraini delegation visits family of UAE martyr

Abu Dhabi // A Bahraini delegation yesterday visited the family of the late First Lt Tariq Al Shehi, to offer their condolences. They also visited the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Lt Gen Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Also in Ras Al Khaimah was Bahrain’s interior minister, Lt Gen Sheikh Rashid Abdullah Al Khalifa, who sat with Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah.

The two officials discussed bilateral relations and the latest developments in the region.

The interior minister offered his condolences to the family of 41 year-old Al Shehi, who was killed in Bahrain earlier this week.

The father of four died after an improvised terrorist bomb exploded on Monday as security forces dispersed Shiite protesters in the village of Daih, near Manama.

Two other police officers with the Bahraini security forces were killed in the blast.

According to state news agency Wam, Sheikh Saud and Lt Gen Sheikh Rashid also discussed the close historic and social ties between Bahrain and the UAE.

Meanwhile, Sheikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifah, president of the Asian Football Confederation had a meeting with Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Committee and Honorary President of the UAEFA, and exchanged condolences over the death of the three men.

Sheikh Hazza also said that he hoped those injured in the blast would have a speedy recovery.
