ABU DHABI // Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, met with Antonio Guterres, secretary-general of the United Nations, to discuss increasing cooperation between the UAE and the UN.
Meeting at the UN’s headquarters in New York, the two discussed aspects of joint cooperation and in particular ways to promote humanitarian aid.
Sheikh Abdullah and Mr Guterres also discussed the current developments in the Middle East and conditions in Yemen, Syria, Libya, and Iraq.
Sheikh Abdullah expressed the UAE’s keenness to strengthen its cooperation and partnership with the UN.
The UN secretary-general expressed his and the UN’s appreciation for the UAE’s efforts and the important role it plays in supporting the organisation and the international community.
The meeting was attended by Lana Nusseibeh, UAE Permanent Representative to the UN.
