ABU DHABI // The Arab Producers Union has awarded the Shield of Excellence to Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, in recognition of her efforts in service of civil society, launching development projects in Egypt and for her leading humanitarian role.

The shield was received on Sheikha Fatima’s behalf by Dr Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, during the ceremony themed “Thanks to the UAE”, held by the Arab Producers Union in Sixth of October City, Egypt.

Dr Al Shamsi conveyed the regards of Sheikha Fatima, the wife of the late Founding Father Sheikh Zayed, and her wishes to the people of Egypt, led by its wise leadership.

She also extended thanks on behalf of Sheikha Fatima to the Arab Producers Union for its constructive efforts to strengthen the joint work and friendship between the UAE and Egypt.

“Egypt will remain under our focus,” Dr Al Shamsi said, indicating that both countries share religious and Arab values, state news agency WAM reported.

While presenting the Shield of Excellence, Dr Mustafa Salama, Secretary General of the Arab Producers Union, said: “Sheikha Fatima is not only the Mother of UAE, but the Mother of All Arabs.”
