Google Doodle pays homage to UAE on National Day

Google has joined the UAE in celebrating its 44th National Day with a commemorative homepage ‘Doodle’ featuring the birthplace of President Sheikh Khalifa.

The image, on google.ae and google.com, sees the normal Google logo colours replaced with the red, black, green and white of the UAE flag.

In addition an image of Qasr Al Muwaiji, the birthplace of the President, replaces one of the "o"s.

Earlier this month the century-old fortress opened to the public as a museum - the first time in more than 60 years the public had been given access to it.

This is not the first time Google has honoured the country on its National Day.

Last year's UAE-themed Google Doodle displayed an image of Qasr Al Hosn, while others have featured eagles, camels and flags.

Clicking on this year’s Doodle will take visitors to the results page for a search for “United Arab Emirates National Day”.
