The Cabinet has approved setting up a UAE Gender Balance Council to ensure Emirati women have a greater role in the workplace, thus boosting the country’s national and international status.
The Council will carry out several functions, including reviewing legislation, policies and programmes to achieve gender balance in the workplace, and to recommend activating international resolutions and agreements pertaining to the gender balance in the workplace in order to avoid discrimination against women.
The council’s goal is to reduce the gender gap at work as well as strengthen the UAE’s position in global competitiveness reports by making the country a role model in the gender equality.
