Sharjah Police arrested four Pakistani men on suspicion of attempting to break into a shop in an industrial area.
Officers on patrol noticed a shop open late at night and found the men inside.
The gang resisted arrest and one man tried to escape using a pickup truck that was rammed into a police car before he was arrested.
During interrogations, the men confessed to breaking into the shop and were found to have entered the country illegally.
They also admitted targeting supermarkets and construction and electronic equipment shops, police said.
They were referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution to face trial.
