There is no good in witchcraft and seeking the services of sorcerers, only damages and endless sorrows will follow, Muslims will be told on Friday.
Allah has prohibited black magic, witchcraft, fortune telling and sorcery because of the dire consequences and dangers, says today’s sermon.
The Quran and hadith are rich with references to the disadvantages of such practices and warnings about their consequences.
A verse from the Quran says: “ ... and a wizard shall not be successful to whatever point (of skill) he may attain”.
Prophet Mohammed also warned that the prayer of one who visits a sorcerer will not be accepted for 40 days, which means he will not be granted any rewards from it.
“Those sorcerers claim to know the unknown (destiny) and Allah has clarified that He alone knows,” the sermon says.
It cites a verse from the Quran: “None in the heavens and the earth knoweth the Unseen save Allah; and they know not when they will be raised (again).”
Such practices give way to fraud, causing damage to others through physical or psychological harm, and give rise to disputes and lack of faith.
“Visiting wizards and sorcerers hurts and does not benefit, and solutions to problems are only found with what this religion has offered,” the sermon continues.
And when one is affected by a disease, they should seek the aid of specialised medical physicians, and not fraudulent wizards and sorcerers.
As Prophet Mohammed said: “Make use of medical treatment, for Allah has not made a disease without appointing a remedy for it.”
