Fill your hearts with love for the Prophet Mohammed and follow his teachings, and you will sit beside him in paradise, this week’s sermon will teach.
“Allah blessed believers by sending the final Prophet to recite His verses on them and purify their souls with his advice,” says the sermon. “He fulfilled the best of honourable ethics … and guided worshippers to the straight path.”
The Quran says that Allah granted the Prophet Mohammed the ability to intercede on believers’ behalf on Judgment Day so that Allah would have mercy on their sins and shortcomings.
“Allah has ordered to glorify his Prophet,” continues the sermon.
A verse from the Quran says: “We have sent thee (O Mohammed) as a witness and a bearer of good tidings and a warner, That ye (mankind) may believe in Allah and His messenger, and may honour Him, and may revere Him, and may glorify Him at early dawn and at the close of day.”
During his lifetime, the Prophet Mohammed’s companions knew of his greatness and showed him complete dedication and heartfelt admiration.
For example, when non-believers wanted to kill Zayd bin Al Dathna, a companion of the Prophet Mohammed, they asked him: “Would you like it if Mohammed were in your place and we hit his neck?”
He replied that he would not even want a fork to hurt the Prophet Mohammed.
An uncle of the Prophet Mohammed, Abu Sufian, who was a non-believer at the time, uttered his famous quote: “I have not seen any people who love someone like the love that Mohammed’s companions have for him.”
The sermon will continue: “Oh believers: renew your link with your Prophet, peace be upon him.
“Love him with all your hearts and love what he loves … and be aware that our faith is not fulfilled until we love him more than we love ourselves.”
As the Prophet Mohammed once said: “No one of you is a true believer until I am dearer to him than himself, his money, children and all people.”
