ABU DHABI// The French Minister of Defence has been given a tour of the ongoing construction work at the Louvre Abu Dhabi Museum.
Jean-Yves Le Drian saw first hand the advanced stages of building work for the new museum on Monday.
The event was organised by the Tourism Development and Investment Company (TDIC) and hosted by their chief executive Sufian Al Marzooqi.
The tour delegation also included other senior TDIC representatives and members of the French Government.
They were shown the completed dome's 'rain of light' effect as well as the preparations being made for the controlled flooding of various areas in the museum.
They also observed the extensive extensive security operation to put into place to to safeguard visitors as well as the artworks.
Once completed, the museum will feature Permanent Galleries, a Temporary Gallery, a Children's Museum and an auditorium, in addition to its rich array of artworks, which visitors can admire across 9,200 square metres of display space.
Completion of the project has been delayed with the provisional opening date pushed back to later this year.
