Four arrested for ‘stealing Dh140,000’ from Sharjah restaurants and shops

The men, all from Afghanistan, are suspected of breaking into several stores and restaurants in Sharjah and other emirates, police said.

SHARJAH // Four men have been arrested after allegedly breaking into a restaurant and stealing Dh140,000 from a safe.

The men, all from Afghanistan, are suspected of breaking into several stores and restaurants in Sharjah and other emirates, police said.

CID officers were able to track down an Afghan man who was involved in the raids to a house in Ajman with help from the emirate’s police.

The man said he and three compatriots carried out a series of burglaries. Police arrested the other men and found tools used in the robberies in their homes in Ajman and their cars.

The gang would monitor the movement of employees and any security systems before carrying out the raids.

Officers urged owners to install CCTV cameras and secure their businesses to deter thieves.

The men have been referred to public prosecution to face trial.
