Forty low-income expatriates with chronic hepatitis and cancer were given medicine worth Dh1.75m by Dar Al Ber Society.

In collaboration with Axios, the charity purchased the medication as part of the Thank You Zayed Giving campaign.

A hepatitis patient pays Dh90,000 every month to buy life-saving medicine, said Khalfan Al Mazrouei, chairman of Dar Al Ber Society.
"The Thank You Zayed Giving campaign aims to collect Dh10 million to purchase medicine for patients suffering from cancer, hepatitis, kidney failure and diabetes", he said.
Mr Al Mazrouei said the financial aid was particularly useful to expatriates as Emirati patients are able to receive treatment at public hospitals.
The patients were made up of four women and 36 men.
Each patient spends between Dh50,000 and Dh90,000 every month on medicine, Mr Al Mazrouei said.
