Flooding on road to Dubai's Ibn Battuta Mall causes traffic problems

Flooding near an access road leading to Ibn Battuta Mall in Dubai caused traffic problems yesterday.

Visitors were forced to drive through several inches of water to get to the mall.

The opposite side of the road was clear of flooding but hit by severe tailbacks.

"When I was driving through it I was wondering whether we might get out again," said Simon Jeffries, 32, from the UK. "The water was quite deep but there wasn't anywhere to turn back."

A spokesman for Nakheel, the owner of the mall, declined to comment on the cause of the flooding.
