Five charged with running brothel and engaging in consensual sex

DUBAI // Five men have appeared in court charged with running a brothel and engaging in consensual sex.

Prosecutors charged Iraqi FN, 44, with setting up a business for the purpose of prostitution in Hor Al Anz and facilitating prostitution, while NY, 22, SS, 22, and SB, 23, all male and from Thailand, were charged with prostitution and having consensual sex.

Emirati YN, 23, was charged with having consensual sex with one of the male prostitutes in April this year.

The Dubai Criminal Court was told that police responded to reports of a fight between YN and NY at the brothel.

“FN denied setting up the shop for prostitution. NY, SS and SB said they had sex with men and charged Dh50 to Dh100 per customer,” said Emirati police officer AA, 22.

FN along with NY, SS and SB, all entered not guilty pleas.

YN was present at court but was not asked to enter a plea.

The next hearing is set for August 10.
