DUBAI // A 30-year-old Arab national and four colleagues have been charged with embezzling almost Dh8.4 million from the Department of Economic Development in Dubai.
Prosecutors say the man used his position as customer service director in a clearance company to falsify financial records and steal the money.
They clam he illegally accessed the department’s IT system, then changed the fees due to be paid to Dubai Municipality.
Al Ittihad, the sister newspaper of The National, said that the five men have denied the charges against them.
