SHARJAH // Firefighters from Sharjah and Dubai took nearly three hours to put out a fire at a power station on Sunday morning.
The fire broke out at around 9am at Munther Power station near Al Arab Mall, Sharjah. Firefighters began tackling the blaze at around 10am but it was 1pm before the fire was put out completely.
Civil defence crews from Almina, Samnan, as well as units from Dubai, all assisted. There were no casualties reported.
No customers were effected by the fire, according to an official at Sharjah Electricity and Water Authority, who said customers served by Munther were re-routed to other power stations.
Traffic police assisted and closed the surrounding area of the power station and routed the traffic via alternative routes to insure people safety.
The power station was handed over to the forensic laboratory of Sharjah Police to determine the cause of the fire.
