Fire crews have brought a large blaze in a residential building in Jumeirah under control. Social media users shared images of smoke spreading through the streets and heavy traffic in the area on Sunday afternoon. Dubai Civil Defence vehicles were at the scene. They have since said they have controlled the fire. <br/> Firefighting teams from three nearby stations were sent to contain the fire and ensure it did not spread to any other buildings<br/> Maj Gen Rashid Al Matroushi, director of Civil Defence, was at the scene. “The fire in a construction site in Jumeirah was brought under control. Crews from six fire stations were sent to control the blaze,” he said. Maj Gen Al Matroushi said that crews from four fire stations were sent initially to control the fire, and another two crews were sent later to help control the blaze. “No injuries were reported,” he said. Dubai Government Media Office said a series of streets were closed from the new canal bridge into Jumeirah 2. They had since reopened.
