Two wooden houses went up in smoke in Madinat Zayed in Al Gharbia after a fire broke out in one and spread to the other in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
Civil Defence succeeded in putting out the fire and there were no casualties.
First Lieutenant Mabkhoot Naji Al Mansouri, officer at the Civil Defence Centre, said investigations are still ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze and stressed the need to follow fire safety and prevention rules, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic language sister newspaper of The National.
