Quick intervention by Civil Defence and Abu Dhabi Police teams enabled them to control a fire that broke out in six cars parked at Mazyad Mall in Mohammed bin Zayed City.
Lt Col Mohammed Al Ansari, director general of Civil Defence, said a call was received around 1pm about a car fire at the mall. The principal car burned completely, as did the fronts of two others. A fourth car burned in the rear. The last two suffered smoke damage.
An investigation is ongoing. Lt Col Al Ansari advised motorists to ensure periodic maintenance of their vehicles and to make sure cars have fire extinguishers. Owners must also check oil and water levels and leakage.
