DUBAI // Three out of four men who were charged with assault after a fight over a woman at an Atlantis The Palm beach party have been found not guilty by Dubai Criminal Court.
The fourth man was found guilty and was fined Dh2,000.
The court heard that Syrian brothers O M, 20, and 23-year-old A M, as well as their Egyptian friend, M N, 28, attacked Syrian A A, 31, on November 9 last year after he began speaking to a British woman.
A A suffered an injury to his left eye, which led to a 3 per cent permanent disability.
The victim said he spotted the woman and went to talk with her at about 2am on Nasimi Beach.
“I greeted her and then the two brothers came and asked me to leave,” A A said.
He claimed that one of the brothers shoved him on the shoulder but he refused to leave.
At this point, M N got involved and then all three assaulted him until security guards broke up the fight.
All four men were arrested and then charged with assault.
Records did not include the testimonies of other defendants or witnesses.
A A was not present in court to enter a plea but the rest of the defendants appeared and denied the charges.
O M was convicted and fined by the court while the rest were acquitted.
