SHARJAH // A Palestinian woman was run over and killed on Monday night.
Sharjah Police said that a British man, H H L, driving a Honda, was distracted and not paying attention to the road when he hit 50-year-old S M S.
“The car that caused the accident was coming from Union Square and heading towards Qanat Al Qasba when it veered off the left lane of Cooperation Main Road,” said police.
“This caused the vehicle to hit the woman while she crossed the road from the left side of the vehicle towards the right.
“The woman sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.”
Sharjah Police called on motorists to abide by traffic laws and pay attention to road signs, adding that pedestrians should only cross from designated areas.
