Dr Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah, has directed the human resources department of the Government of Sharjah to help any female employee retire upon completing 15 years in service.

The decision to help the female employees should be based on her special circumstances and her explanation of the reasons for retirement, according to Tareq bin Khadem, member of Sharjah Executive Council and chairman of the human resources department.

In an interview with Sharjah TV, Mr bin Khadem said that according to Sheikh Sultan’s orders, any married or unmarried working woman of any age who has completed 15 years in service are eligible to receive 60 per cent of her salary after retirement, provided that her salary is a minimum of Dh10,000.

“We understand that women shoulder many responsibilities toward their work, husbands and children. After 15 years in service, because of unforeseen circumstances that call for her retirement, we should thank these women for what the services they offered to the state, and honour them for their many responsibilities,” said Mr bin Khadem.

The official also reviewed a number of initiatives, that are in line with the directives of Sheikh Sultan, for promoting the rights of women and ensuring their family stability.
