The Farmers Service Centre has provided 600 barns to farmers in the Western Region to help keep the prices of meat down in the run-up to Eid Al Adha.

The provision of barns in Bani Yas and Al Heir has allowed farmers to display their animals and sell them at reasonable prices, reported Al Ittihad, the Arabic-language sister newspaper of the The National.

In recent weeks, the price of sacrificial animals has risen, with shortages of many types of livestock.

A spokesman for the centre said there were plenty of Al Somali goats available at reasonable prices.
