SHARJAH // A mother and two daughters have died in a house fire in Sharjah.

The mother, from the Comoros Islands, was burnt to death, while her daughters died of smoke inhalation at the house in Al Ghafia on Tuesday, police said.

“The fire engulfed most of the house and destroyed its contents. The mother was found dead after getting burnt from the fire, while the two daughters have died from inhaling the smoke,” said Colonel Sami Al Naqbi, director of Sharjah Civil Defence.

The cause of the fire was yet to be determined.

Fire crews received a report at 11.33am and sent emergency teams to the location.

Police said that two families shared the house. It was handed over to police forensic teams for an investigation into the cause of the fire.
