A man accused of trying to blackmail a woman into having sex with him after befriending her online has been jailed for three months.
Dubai Criminal Court heard how the Indian defendant, 31, met his victim on the app WeChat in October last year and claimed to be a Frenchman called Mike.
As the two became close, the 39-year-old Filipina saleswoman sent the man naked pictures of herself and a video while she was having a shower.
When he asked if she would have sex with him and she refused, he threatened to post the pictures online.
“When I refused, he threatened to post the pictures and the clip online then asked that I pay him Dh2000,” the woman told the court.
For four days, the man repeated his demands which prompted his victim to call the police.
In court last month, he admitted blackmailing the woman but denied asking her to have sex with him.
He was found guilty and ordered to be deported after serving his prison term.
