Etihad Airways promotes first Emirati woman to airport manager

ABU DHABI // An Emirati woman has become the first female airport manager of Etihad Airways.

Fatima Al Kharousi will be responsible for overseeing the airline’s operations at Chubu Centrair International Airport in Nagoya, Japan.

She joined Etihad in 2009 under its graduate management programme.

After two years of working in airport operations, she later served as airport duty manager in cities including London, Manchester and Singapore.

Etihad recently deployed more than 190 of its Emirati staff to various positions at its offices and airports across the Middle East, Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas.

“I am excited to take on this new and challenging role to act as the focal point for all of Etihad Airways’ operations in Nagoya,” said Ms Al Kharousi .

“I am delighted to be the first Emirati woman to be trusted with the management of such an important airport. I hope that my accomplishment encourages many of my Emirati sisters to push the boundaries and reach their goals.”
