ABU DHABI // Winter aid relief parcels are being distributed to families affected by the blizzard in Lebanon by the Emirates Red Crescent.
This is part of the second phase of humanitarian work by the society in keeping with the directives of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, ruler’s representative in the Western Region and the chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent.
Around 16,000 Syrian and Palestinian families along with 1,000 Iraqi families who fled to Lebanon recently will be covered in the second phase, according to Wam state news agency. The team also distributed 700 parcels to Syrian refugees families affected by the blizzard in Khraibet al-Jundi village, north of Tripoli.
Khaled Taha, the village mayor, thanked the UAE government, its people and the Emirates Red Crescent for the relief aid.
