Dubai’s electric car vow to staff

Dubai government staff will be driving electric and hybrid cars in the coming years.

The Dubai Green Mobility Initiative Committee said that about 10 per cent of official cars will be electric or hybrid to achieve the emirate’s target of reducing greenhouse gases within the next four years.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, managing director and chief executive officer of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, said: “We will work to increase the percentage of hybrid cars in the emirate and contribute towards a 16 per cent reduction in emissions by 2020.”
