Fifty per cent of camel deaths nationally are caused by suffocation due to eating plastic bags, according to the Environment Agency, Abu Dhabi (EAD).

Mohammed Al Raissi, director of communication and community service at the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, said his agency was conducting an awareness on proper ways to store and transport food in the desert. ADFCA inspectors are visiting people in the field to urge them to adopt environment-friendly habits and hand them brochures.
