Emirati singer rescued from Sharjah desert

Police said the singer called the Sharjah Command Centre at 2.15pm. Officers from Al Thumaid police station were dispatched as well as rescue teams who used GPS trackers to locate Mr bel Kheir’s car, which was stuck in the dunes.

SHARJAH // Emirati singer Abdullah bel Kheir was rescued after his car became stuck in the Al Fayah desert on Monday.

Police said the singer called the Sharjah Command Centre at 2.15pm. Officers from Al Thumaid police station were dispatched as well as rescue teams who used GPS trackers to locate Mr bel Kheir’s car, which was stuck in the dunes.

Sharjah police have urged motorists to drive carefully in sand and refrain from entering uncharted and dangerous areas.

They said motorists should make sure their cars are in a good condition and have a supply of water and food, as well as fuel, before entering the desert. Tracking systems should also be used to help motorists find their way home and to alert the authorities in case of an emergency.
