FUJAIRAH // A 14-year-old Emirati boy drowned at Merbeh Beach in Fujairah on Thursday evening.
Task-force rescuers moved to the site and started searching for the boy using helicopters and by diving, police said. They found the boy’s body after almost two hours of searching.
The body was taken to Fujairah Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Police said they received a call in the operations room at about 5.30pm about the incident. They warned people to take extra caution when swimming at sea during rough conditions, and advised against swimming alone.
