DUBAI // Emirates flights to and from Bali have been rescheduled because of a volcano that has erupted on the island of Lombok in Indonesia.

Denpasar airport has been closed due to the resultant volcanic ash cloud.

In a statement the airline said: “Volcano Rinjani on the island of Lombok is currently erupting and the volcanic ash cloud has resulted in the closure of the Denpasar airport by the authorities.

“Transit passengers bound for Denpasar who are currently in Dubai International Airport will be given the option to return to their original point of departure if they so choose.”

The airline said flights will follow a revised schedule, adding that all dates and times are provisional subject to Denpasar airport reopening.
