The Emirates Red Crescent has given urgent food and shelter assistance to the flood-affected population in the Punjab region of Pakistan.
The charitable organisation responded to appeal for help following the recent floods in Rajpura, south of the Punjab region, which deluged farms and left many families homeless.
Hamad Abdullah Al Ali, head of the RCA office in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, said the UAE relief agency had organised an aid convoy to the area where nearly 1000 needy families each got a basket of essential food items, according to state news agency WAM.
Local officials thanked the UAE and the RCA for the humanitarian help.
