ABU DHABI // Emirates Red Crescent is supporting the second Zayed Charity Marathon in Cairo to the tune of Dh2 million.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, Ruler’s Representative in the Western Region and chairman of the Red Crescent, sanctioned the support for a marathon where all proceeds go to hepatitis patients.

The marathon will be held at the Air Defence Stadium, Cairo, on Friday under the patronage of the president of Egypt, Abdel Fatah El Sisi, and under the directives of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Dr Hamdan Al Mazroouei, chairman of the ERC Board, said the financial assistance to the marathon was “in line with the spirit of the marathon, which carries the name of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and embodies the humanitarian principles and values he had advocated during his lifetime”.
