An Egyptian man drowned off Ajman beach on Monday afternoon, after he was swept away by a strong current.
The body of S A, 29, was pulled from the sea by a maritime rescue team from Ajman Civil Defence and taken to Sheikh Khalifa Hospital.
Col Nasser Al Zari, spokesman for Ajman Civil Defence, said the operations room had received a call that a man had drowned of Ajman Corniche.
“Based on the report, the team started searching and scanned the area until it found the dead body.”
Search teams used a drone to help find the body, reducing the search time significantly, Col Al Zari said. Civil defence teams would in future use the devices in firefighting and rescue operations also, he said.
Elsewhere, police in Fujairah said a 65-year-old Indian businessman from Dubai was found washed up on the shore on Friday. T A was discovered by residents on Rul Dibba beach, near the Radisson Blu resort, at 2.30pm.
His body was identified from an ID found in the man’s car, which was parked near by.
Maj Saeed Al Hassani, head of the media department at Fujairah Police, said that there were no suspicious circumstances and that a post mortem examination revealed that drowning was the cause of death.

How it works
1) The liquid nanoclay is a mixture of water and clay that aims to convert desert land to fertile ground
2) Instead of water draining straight through the sand, it apparently helps the soil retain water
3) One application is said to last five years
4) The cost of treatment per hectare (2.4 acres) of desert varies from $7,000 to $10,000 per hectare
